July 2, 2012 - Press Event in North St. Paul - Call for Extending Wind Energy Production Tax Credit

On July 2, 2012, North St. Paul was represented by Nancy Sutley, President Obama's principal environmental advisor and Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, along with U.S. Representatives Betty McCollum from Minnesota's 4th Congressional District and Keith Ellison from Minnesota's 5th Congressional District in support of the extension of the Federal wind energy production Tax Credit (PTC). The PTC, which is set to expire at the end of the year unless Congress takes action, has been a successful tool that has contributed significantly to industry growth and has helped finance wind projects like the wind turbine here in North St. Paul. North St. Paul's involvement in the "Hometown WindPower" Program supports reliable, sustainable and affordable energy and has gained national recognition - a program that would be difficult to implement without the resources the PTC provides. The press event that was held at North St. Paul's wind turbine at the Public Works site was to highlight the need for Congress to extend the Federal wind energy production Tax Credit and was a significant event for North St. Paul.
